<p><strong>Keywords and Theme</strong></p>
<p>The first step in writing a web page is to select keywords that describe the content and material you are creating.   To check, conduct a search on Google using your selected keyword, do you find content similar to what you intend to create?</p>
<p>Each page should have one Primary Keyword and 2 to 3 secondary, supporting keywords or phrases. The Primary Keyword frames the topic, the Secondary Keywords support it.</p>
<p><strong>Keyword Density &#8211; Usage</strong></p>
<p>Keyword Density is often used to assure that the selected keyword is the most prominent word on the page. The thought is to help the search engines by repeating the keyword over and over. This might have worked 5 years ago, but it is not a good practice now.</p>
<p>To assure that the Search Engine understands the topic of your page, tightly theme the writing.  Use the keyword in the Meta Title, Meta Description a Page Title, and in the name of the file.</p>
<p>Use the Secondary Keywords in paragraph headings and within the copy.  Don’t be afraid to use the Primary Keyword where it is appropriate.  To keep over use down, rely on the Secondary Keywords and synonyms.</p>
<p><strong>Associated Keywords</strong></p>
<p>Another technique is to use related terms that give clues to the meaning and intended theme of the page.  For example, let say our Primary Keyword is “Dog Collar” and we don’t want to use the word again. An effective sentence that does not use the Primary Keyword might look like this one.</p>
<p>“Find a great selection of matching leashes in colors and styles that will make him the envy of the neighborhood dog park”.</p>
<p>The search engines know to associate collar and leash.  The two words are associated.</p>

Good technical implantation of HTML, CSS and other scripts is the foundation of good SEO.</p>
<p>Validation is one of the simplest ways to check whether a page is built in accordance with Web standards, and provides one of the most reliable guarantees that the web page will last as designed, even was web browsers change.  Creating Web pages according to a widely accepted coding style also helps makes it easier to maintain in the future, regardless of staffing.</p>
<p>Finally, SEO is negatively impacted when sites don’t meet basic standard.  For example, poorly implemented CSS can make text blank, potentially resulting in “clocking” penalties.   Standards based pages are a good signal to the Search Engines of the quality of a given page and website.</p>
<p>Because many web pages are “added” to or based on outdated templates, 100% validation is seldom achieved.   The goal is to make existing content the best it can be. Still, all new websites and templates should be designed to validate 100%.</p>
